A solo 6 kilómetros de Cafayate, pero con 300 metros más de altitud sobre el nivel del mar, se encuentra la bodega Domingo Hermanos, una de las empresas con más historia en una zona con alto valor enológico que mira hacia el futuro. Los terrenos de la bodega albergan no sólo una reserva indígena, sino una represa del siglo XIX, construida en piedra, que busca ahora convertirse en un ‘Visitor Center’ comunicado por un túnel subterráneo con el corazón de la bodega. Los materiales, de corte tradicional, sirven ahora a una visión contemporánea que incluye el turismo como factor de desarrollo, uniendo tradición vitivinícola con un nuevo crecimiento económico que se abre al exterior desde las mismas viñas. La vista sobre Cafayate y su valle, al emerger del túnel en el Visitor Center, es inolvidable.

The Santa Maria valley in Catamarca, 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of Cafayate, is one of the new expanding areas of viticulture in Argentina. The Finca LB winery is located in this great landscape, and integrated in the historic valley system of the Calchaquí region. It is also close to valuable pre-Columbian settlements, like the ruins of Quilmes. Its main building aesthetically fits in the typical colonial architecture of northwestern Argentina, which shows great sensitivity toward landscape. At the same time, the building has a very rigorous functionality and responds to 21st century’s technical requirements for winemaking. The set is designed to grow in different stages, forming a succession of courtyards and peristyle galleries that help mitigate the region’s heat to create a transition zone between the interior and the exterior.
